Seasoned Astronauts to Venture on Historic Starliner Mission
Wilmore and Williams Await Maiden Starliner Journey
Two veteran NASA astronauts, Barry "Butch" Wilmore and Suni Williams, are preparing to embark on a groundbreaking mission aboard the Boeing Starliner spacecraft.
Wilmore, a former Navy captain, and Williams, a renowned endurance astronaut with seven spacewalks, will command and pilot the Starliner on its first crewed flight, known as the Commercial Flight Test (CFT).
The mission, scheduled for May 6, marks a significant milestone in Boeing's efforts to develop a commercial crew transportation system for NASA. Wilmore and Williams will spend several days in orbit, testing the Starliner's systems and capabilities before returning to Earth.
If successful, the CFT mission will pave the way for the Starliner to become the first commercial spacecraft to carry humans to the International Space Station.
