Thousands Queue for Simon Cowell Boyband Auditions

Hundreds Gather in Dublin for First Round

Over 200 hopefuls turned out in Dublin city center to audition for music mogul Simon Cowell's latest boyband project.

Cowell is searching for a new group of young singers to follow in the footsteps of One Direction, who were formed on his reality TV show The X Factor.

The auditions, which were held over two days at a hotel in the city center, saw hopefuls aged 16-18 perform in front of Cowell and a panel of judges.

Cowell said he was "really impressed" with the talent on show and that he was "looking forward to finding the next big thing." He added that he hoped to find a group that was "as talented and successful as One Direction."

The successful auditionees will go on to compete in a televised bootcamp, with the final group of singers being chosen to form the new boyband.

The new group is expected to be released later this year.
